new vista update problem

I just installed a new vista update last night...i have 64x vista

i restart my computer and get this message

"windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be a problem"

File: Windows/system32/drivers/sfvfso2.sys
Status: 0xc0000428
Info: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file

Then it tells me to insert my windows disk and restart the computer and then repair from there. The problem is my keyboard doesn't work when it gets back to the error message. I can use it when the startup screen comes on but then I cannot after that. I try to start in safe mode or last known good configuration but i can't use the keyboard to enter anything.

I have no idea what I can do to this. I have looked all over for information but nothing helpful. People here have helped me a lot and I'm sure somebody has some answers. Has anybody had a similar issue or knows what can be done?

Thanks a lot😕

Sometimes you can change the BIOS "usb keyboard" support or "enable legacy usb devices" or "bios controls usb keyboard/mouse" and "plug & play os: NO" options to help keep the keyboard working. YMMV.

I don't understand why you'd want the keyboard to work at / after the error message, though. Then you just hit RESET. Not being able to boot safe mode is a potential problem though.

If you boot off the vista install disc, though, hopefully you can use it...

I went into BIOS and enabled the keyboard...

now when i got to the error message I checked off "disable driver signature enforcement" and windows loads fine. But is that going to cause problems and how can I fix it? Every time I load my computer I have to do that.
