or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121442

in a few weeks want to replace MB,RAM, and CPU at once and throw in current case

what im currently lookin at for those
MB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138319

RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233202

goin a bit cheap on cpu i know but plan on throwing an i7 in there down the road and from what i've read the i3 is still a step up from core2duo

i use computer for web/music/movies/graphic design
with a little bit of zbrush/3dmax and games thrown in
prefer to get stuff from newegg or amazon, live in usa
2 monitor setup primary-1920, secondary-1620, dont plan on overclocking

So on the video card front, I if you're going as high as that 550 I suggest this 6850
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908
Right now with promo and rebate it's cheaper than the 550 and higher performing.

That's a good mobo, and if you want an alternative the asrock pro3 is good at that price level.

If you're serious about an upgrade to an i7 in the future, then why bother spending so much on a temp chip? Grab a G530, I've run games on one just fine, but and you'll be get most of the money back selling it used.

You can go cheaper on the RAM. Mobo's probably fine, and the i3 is certainly a step up.

I'm not sure what graphic design programs or games you are using. In many cases, the onboard Intel graphics is good enough, except for most games and maybe for things like 3dmax.

Edit: A g620 or g530 would not be a significant improvement.

good recommendation on RAM
didnt even look at other manufacturers because i've had great luck with corsair
good call on those comparison CPU charts, didnt check that
design software - Adobe cs package, quark, zbrush and maya/3dmax for a little rendering, illustration stuff. also ms office stuff and a little html/css
so basically the demanding stuff would be playing a newer game at medium-high detail at 1920 or 1600(not sure what, just like having the option)

update
bought 6850 videocard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102908
rebates were still good i think, hard to argue with $120 for a card that seems to put up good numbers even at 1920 in most games

updated list
cheaper option
MB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138319 - $110
CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115090 -$130 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115090 -$135
RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220570- $39
-----------------------------------------------------
about $285

spend a bit more
MB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128495 - $118
CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072 - $220
RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233202 - $50
-----------------------------------------------------
$388

cheaper option seems like the way to go
feature-wise from mainboard just want usb3 for external,sata6 for ssd,and hdmi/onboard video backup option

thanks belegost and ken g6 for the help

If you're near a Micro Center, I heard they had really good deals on i3-2100s this month, particularly when bundled with a mobo. Might be too late already, but they'll likely have something next month.
