Got my Boys a MSI 6200-128Mb Vid Card (to replace my real old but still kicking and very overclocked Gainward GF2-Ti) from Newegg for under $60. Idea was to give them a decent boost in power and 9c shader for new games, without spending a lot. Installed ok, PC is MSI nForce2 MB, XP1700, 1GB of DDR. Real cheap 17' Monitor. 350W Enermax Power Supply.
Installed the new card, it loads Windows but the screen keeps going black, then coming back on for minutes or seconds, then black again....and other times the monitor shows it has lost the signal....sometimes it comes back for a minute, other times stays off so long I finally shut it down.
I've tried re-seating everything, temps are fine, PC is clean, got MSI drivers installed and no help, removed and still does it with VGA driver. Seems better in Safe Mode, but trying to install latest nVidia driver and it goes black and looses signal again even in safe mode. I've tried higher and default AGP voltage. no help.
Don't know if its the Vid Card, or the crappy Monitor cant deal with the signal (wondering if adding a cheap 17" DVI LCD would fix it) I think the Power is ok. It's weird and frustrating.
Any ideas most welcome!
