Just installed a 8800gt but it's not playing well with my dell 24". After the XP spalsh screen in bootup the monitor goes blank and I can't find how to correct it yet.
I got the monitor to work by using a vga cable with dvi adapter, but output via dvi cable still results in the monitor going blank when the desktop loads.
Am I looking at replacing the vid card to fix this?
Once you have these programs you will need to go either through Add/Remove
programs and uninstall the NVIDIA display drivers or via Device Manager. If
you are unfamiliar with how to get into Device Manager, simply right-click My
Computer, choose Properties, then move over to the Hardware tab and click
Device Manager. Locate "Display Adapters" and right-click on the card, under
the "Driver" tab select uninstall driver. Accept the reboot and boot into Safe
Mode (F8), once full booted run the Driver Sweeper program for NVIDIA Display
and ATI Display, and run the installation for driver 163.75.
Thank you,

The driver cleaner isn't pretty much a worthless comment for me, but I'll try the older driver and see what that does.
Well that was a no-go. Excluding vendor modified forceware, I've been unable to get any version prior to 169.02 to install as it gives an error message that nvidia is unable to detect any installed component that the drivers would be applicable for.
While spending another night on goggle searches I actually came across couple AT post including this. Some I have read actually talked about flashing the BFG bios to another brand to get it working. At this point I'm just hoping the store near me restocks soon so I can start swapping some cards and trying to find one that works
After figuring out that no forceware revision prior to 169.02 would load with the 8800gt, BFGs next response was to authorize a RMA. Hoping the local shop gets some new stock in so I can skip doing the RMA.
