There's a new southbridge by Via that allows ata133 onboard as well as new features. Does the southbridge control the pci bus or is that the kt266a Northbridge? I was curious if this would increase overall thoroughput to the pci bus which supposedly is hindered with the Via chipset as of late. If so, has anyone heard if the new southbridge fixes the speed for the pci/scsi problem?

8233A has been delayed, due to issues with it and several operating systems -- WinXP in particular. Don't expect to see it on a board for quite some time.

That's not entirely true, I have seen a new mobo the Soltek SL-75DRV4 mobo out now(it's another "Purple Ray"), and it has the VT8233a chipset on it which allows it do do ata133 and only 4USB max. They say it's an innovation and allows you to use hard disks larger than 137Gigs as well. Check it out by doing a google search on VT8233a and you will see the release and then go to Soltek and check out the specs on the new mobo. It looks good but I don't know about the stability or anything cause it's too new and we haven't seen a different southbridge in awhile. If this fixes the via problem with pci/scsi, then it might be one of the best XP solutions out right now cause the KT266a is a very fast chipset too. I even found a board on a vendors site that has the new Soltek one for sale right now Ncix.com. Darn, I was going to get the other mobo last night and then I see that.
