Note to carrot:The seagate Baracuda ATAIV's can be really lousy in performance. The problem is that they read spindle data out faster than the RAID controller can buffer it so it has to read everything twice.. atleast, on SOME raid controllers. And dam*, that is some frikkin high CPU utilization.
 
Second thing you guys have to know. HIghpoint is a software controller. If Seagate is right and the highpoint controller is having living hell keeping the data buffered, the CPU utilization would natrually be higher because of the fact that it passes alot of it's work onto the CPU. Oh, BTW, HDTach measures CPU utilization in general. Not drive CPU utilization. So It coulda been seti talking..
