New version of Ultima GTR sets 0-100-0 record.

Link to article.

Basically they took a Chevy V8 that makes 720bhp and strapped it in.

0-60: 2.6
0-100: 5.3
100-0: 3.6
0-100-0: 9.4

I recall McLaren running a test for the F1 GTR in Motor Trend a few years back. It was able to do it in 11.5 seconds, over 2 seconds slower.

I'm not a fan of the Ultima at all (not sure why, but I've just never liked the car), but you have to respect performance like that.

I think the only car that could get close right now is the Koenigsegg CCX, but I doubt it would be able to match it. The Veyron I don't think would be even close, as it would take longer for braking.

Something's kinda odd though, the article says that an Enzo did it only 0.5s slower, but I know an F1 accelerates as quickly as it does, and I doubt it takes 1.5s longer under braking, but I don't know.

holy sh1t. I could not imagine going from 100 - 0 in 3.6 seconds...

I'm sure a Formula One car could do it quicker.

Still, that's incredible for a street legal automobile.

I think it probably is. From what I can tell they just buy crate motors from GM if the customer orders their car with that engine option.

I don't know that an F1 car would even compare to it as favorably as people think. They could beat it if they don't lock up or botch the launch I'm fairly sure, but F1 cars are more impressive with higher speeds, which makes sense as they're not designed for tests like this. Now if it was 0-200-0 then I doubt there would be any roadgoing car that could even come close at all to an F1 car. Also, remember, this car was running all street-legal (fuel, tires, etc.), and no electronic aids.

The McLaren F1 cannot brake nearly as well as a modern vehicle. Much of that can be blamed on their stock tires, which are not nearly as good.

This is the company that manufactures the engines:
