I sent my defective Z-680's back to Logitech in early January. When they received my Z-680's, they told me that the Z-680's were discontinued and that they were going to be sending me Z-5500's instead. I was kinda disappointed because I knew that they used RCA audio cables for the speakers connections. Then they told me that the Z-5500's were on backorder.

Well, 8 weeks after (today), I receive the Z-5500's and to my suprise, all the speakers connect to the subwoofer with regular speaker cables. Did Logitech create a new version of the Z-5500's? I'm thinking that's why they were on backorder for such a long time.

Sounds like you got lucky, I didn't think the 680's were discontinued, not that I would complain, they sent you the z-5500's. I still see the speakers posted on the logitech website, and I still see that they are for sale at many websites. I thought all the 5500's hooked up this way, I bought them a couple month's ago and these are how mine hookup.

Curious, if you read a lot of web reviews for the z5500's you'll see that they were suppose to use RCA styled cabling. tweaknews.net & techzone.com has a review of them and they were RCA cables. maximum pc says the same thing (ok I'm no fan of maxpc's reviews but it's the info that counts).
