New Version Of iPhone Software?

OK, this is odd. iTunes told me that there was a new version of the iPhone software available, but I just automatically closed the window as I had to get to work. Came home and plugged my phone in and told it to check for new software for the phone, and it says everything is current. Was there supposed to be another iPhone software update before 3.0?

2.2.1 is the latest AFAIK, its been out for a month or two now.

You sure it wasn't an iTunes update itself? They just pushed 8.1.1 a few days ago.
