New Version Of iPhone Software?

OK, this is odd. iTunes told me that there was a new version of the iPhone software available, but I just automatically closed the window as I had to get to work. Came home and plugged my phone in and told it to check for new software for the phone, and it says everything is current. 😕 Was there supposed to be another iPhone software update before 3.0?
 
2.2.1 is the latest AFAIK, its been out for a month or two now.

You sure it wasn't an iTunes update itself? They just pushed 8.1.1 a few days ago.
