Here's one for you: RivaTuner says 45C, GPU-Z says 37C

Who's right?

Edit: Yes, these are both core temperatures. I am not confused and comparing PCB temp on one app to core temp on the other. This is apples to apples.

ambient missing

Upgrading. Thank you for helping me indulge in my obsessive upgrading... speaking of which, I gotta go make my daily check for beta drivers... brb

gpuz gives me the same temps as cpuid and the ati control panel. all 37 just like yours. riva says 37 also. you have something screwy going on.

Yeah because the other five people who posted the exact same problem right after me obviously shows that it's just an issue with my system

Right now ATi Tool and RivaTuner both say 43C, GPU-Z says 35C. GPU-Z seems to be the anomaly in everyone's system who's simultaneously checking three or more programs. Guess something's mucked up in their code. PCB temp consistent across the board - looks like it's just a problem with the core readings.

well... they did show many various across different programs... and only one of them compared 3 programs, in his comparison GPUz and everest agreed with each other and contradicted rivatuner... but that doesnt mean anything, they could both be wrong...

Then there was one guy with three different results from three different tests...

exactly. something screwy is going on. is there not something screwy going on with your temps? obviously there is. i wasn't just singling you out. it's obviously not your system, but the way the programs are working on your system. speedfan is totally off for me btw. for cpu also. since 4 match for me and speedfan is alone, i say speedfan is wrong, or maybe speedfan is amazing and the other 4 are crap.

basically, your real temp is +/- 8c of the program you're using. not really helpful. there is no way to tell which is the right one without being not lazy.

8800gt idle core temps:

SPEEDFAN: 46C
RIVATUNER: 46C
GPU-Z: 38.3C
ATiTool: 46C
Everest: 46C

Load core temps: (ati tool artifact scan for a few minutes)
SPEEDFAN: 51C
RIVATUNER: 51C
GPU-Z: 43.3C
ATiTool: 51C
Everest: 51C

its definately GPU-Z thats having trouble reading the temps

go do some reading about speedfan's cpu temp readings...
