New version of Daemon-Tools: Added ability to change driver names to prevent blacklisting

sorry for the noob question, but whats Daemon-Tools do, and why's future blacklisting of drivers an issue? 😕

Daemon-Tools creates a virtual CD-ROM drive on your computer and lets you mount a CD image onto the virtual drive. This way, you can rip all of your games onto your hard drive and pretty much do away with disc swapping.

Ubisoft recently released a patch for one of their games that scans for software like Daemon-Tools. Many people use Daemon tools to play illegally downloaded games. If the patched game detects that you're running Daemon-Tools, the game won't run.

Oh, ok.

I use Alcohol 120% for this purpose, meself.

now whats the purpose of this "* Added ability to change driver filenames (prevents future blacklists) "? I don't get it.

Ubisoft essentially blacklist all software like Alcohol and Daemon Tools. If you have such software installed, you can't play their game. To prevent this from happening, Daemon-Tools now has the option to change driver names so that Ubisoft can't detect it.
