Wait for a few days. Klaus and Fabrice are going to roll a huge number of updates soon into it, like the kernel, KDE and most of the other major components.

I'm looking foward to this too. Knoppix is no novelty ...it's a great tool for bringing linux to the reluctant masses and truly deserves much more attention than it seems to get.

Version 3.3 with Knoqueror 3.1.3 is much better than the old versions. The look & feel is much nicer & same as function & page display....no more screw up Anandtech forums pages.

The version I'm currently using is v3.3 22-09-2003, but there is a newer v3.3 24-09-2003 out today that fixes cd/burner user rights to burn (had to be root since version 3.2 to burn).

The boot screen & desktop is also much cleaner than the last few 3.x versions. Also, the boot time seemed to be sped up a bit. I'll have to find my old version 0.9, 1.0, 3.0 & 3.1 to test the boot time against 3.3 to see if it is really faster or it is just my imagination.

Anyone have an idea when the "update" is supposed to be made available?

I'm hoping one of the updates fixes onboard LAN on NF2 boards.

I'm posting this from Knoppix on my POS Celeron 300 machine which I've booted directly off the CD...all I've gotta say is whoo! I'm impressed!

Is there a way to install it to the HDD alongside a Win2K install??

Congrats!

[Fixed Link] How To: Dual-boot Knoppix with Windows NT/2000/XP

I can't find any of my old disks, but the new version does feel snapier. However, this post is from my POS box at work (600mhz) using Damn Small Linux & Mozilla Firebird (a pare down version of Knoppix) that is lightning fast, and boot time is less than 1 minute.
