Is there a way, or does it already exist, to keep a new user form posting right away after an account creation? Several forums I visit have a policy where you sign up and have to be approved by a MOD before you can post.

It seems to me that this would be an easy way to keep trolls like Almando Boochoon
out of here for good. The time period would allow the mods to verify the users identity and weed out idiots like Almando Boochoon.

Am I missing something or is it not possible? Thanks!

In fact it's been suggested a number of times. The biggest draw of the AT forums is still as a technical help forum; we're not going to put up any roadblocks that keep users from posting and asking for help, particularly roadblocks that require mod approval given the fairly large number of new registrations we get every day.

there has got to be a way to stop this moron....short of a spiked club...

too bad there isnt a way to do that for just the forsale/trade forum..or limit them being able to post anything for sale until they reach a post count of say, 50 or so...they can buy whatever they want...that would give mods time to check them out...

There are ways to do that, a lot of forums have something like that, e.g. XS has a 100 post minimum to see Classifieds.

A spiked club is guaranteed effective though. 😀

There's nothing to gain by restricting new users on these forums. People might come here for a one-off effort to get some help, and being denied the ability to post is pretty off-putting.

As far as spammers are concerned, it's not hard to hit the report button and present your argument. I think it's fine the way it is.
