knsaber-

WELCOME! :D

You will find all kinds of help here, let's start by getting a little more detail though...
which project are you considering?

The project in your link is RC5. Do you have a cow head in your system tray (by the clock).

One of the great things about Team Anandtech is the number of different projects we are involved in. So we always reccomend that people do the project they want.

If you go to team pageyou can get alot of info.

The above link might help you get started, and be sure to ask any question in this forum if you need any more info.

knsaber-

That link is not related at all to the Seti project, rather it has to do with distributed.net's RC5 project. Slowly I'm catching up with you.;) I see that you are registered on our team site teamanandtech.com here.:) I'm currently trying to lookup your info at the Seti site to see what you may need to do next...;)

now we are making some progress ;)

Registering at teamanandtech.com doesn't sign you up to any particular project. Those fields in your profile are where you will put your ID information later after you have signed up with the project(s) that you choose. When I looked up your information at the Seti site, this is what I got: Not Found. So, it looks like you need to go to the Seti@Home site and register as a user there and download the client. I'm not an expert with Seti, so perhaps some other folks here will be along to help get you on the way. Ask all the questions you need and Good Luck! :D

I clicked your link. It shows 0 blocks submitted. If you are running RC5, your stats won't show up until you have flushed some blocks.

Where did you get the client that is installed on your system? Do you have a cow or Satellite dish in your system tray?

And welcome to Team Anandtech. :D

:( That hurts.

There are several. When you go to the TeamAnandTech site you will find info about each project.

Help the TeAm of your choice...all are a lot of fun and an additional good use of your computer.

Then you are looking for distributed.net's RC5 project. You can find information regarding the project in the FAQ @ teamanandtech.com. Basically, you will need to get a client, found here, if you need any help with the configuration just ask here too. After you have processed some work and submitted it to the site, you will be able to access your stats page at that point. From there you will be able to sign up to join Team AnandTech.

I usually duck when things start flying out of my computers, usually means a fan has let go. ;)

Actually, you are NOT running RC5, you are running the ORG project. The client handles multiple projects. Go in and edit your DNET.ini file, it should look like this:

[buffers]
checkpoint-filename=cp

[rc5]
preferred-blocksize=33
fetch-workunit-threshold=2000
randomprefix=34

[networking]
autofindkeyserver=no
keyserver=proxy.teamanandtech.com

[misc]
project-priority=RC5,OGR=0,DES=0,CSC=0

[triggers]
restart-on-config-file-change=yes

[parameters]
id=xxx@xxx.com (put ur email addy here)

Almost there. Once you've submitted the first set of blocks to DNET, you can then join the TeAm...as described above. :)

Oh, you will soon see the RC5 crack rate after it runs for awhile. It will tell you xxx kkeys/sec or x.xxx Mkeys/sec.

Sure you can run at work, as long as your boss says OK. I run a bunch of PC's at work. The nice thing about the RC5 client, you can hide it from the users so they don't mess with it :)...they don't even know it's running. It releases the CPU as long as the priority is set low.

I also set it to start using the RUN key in the registry, so it's VERY transparent to the users. You will get hooked on the stats as you get going. :) Then, you will be assimilating all those work PC's just so you can watch your stats rise, LOL.
