Mix and match vendors - for example, pairing an SLI supported graphics card from MSI with one from BFG or XFX

Mix and match framebuffers (via Coolbits) - pairing a 128MB graphics card with a 256MB graphics card

Ability to enable vsync for all Direct3D and OpenGL games

Dynamically enable/disable SLI - rebooting is eliminated!

Primary Display Switching

Auto Display Detection

Linux Support

there are some 128Mb 6800GT's, guess they will be able to mix with 256mb versions now.

I agree. Its much better than when it first came out. I thought vsync was supposed to be enabled in SLI in some 80.xx version? Anyhow, very good news for SLI owners.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. The drivers can't make a game multi-threaded. They can only impact the code they deal with which tends to be nigh entirely GPU limited. You might get a bit of a bump, particularly for SLI use, but don't expect any huge gains.

AFIAK with some tweak you can run without it but there will be a slight performance hit.

It's all nice and good to hear however if all these features are possible to implement then one must think that NVIDIA enables them ONLY because Crossfire announcedly has them. I wonder how long would it have taken for NVIDIA to come up with these features without the competition's solution being imminent.

Still, I'm happy about it.

No one denies that. Why work harder when you don't have too? It makes total sense to me which is why I want ATI to do well. It works out best for us consumers for the most part, though in some cases it screws us over.

When do you think Xfire will start supporting Linux? Never?

Linux support in driver 80.* has been planned for some time, actually. Though, we should have had it a long time ago (like at launch).
