I recently got an asus U43Jc laptop. I like it, but after swapping the stock hdd out for a ssd and doing a clean install of win7 pro-64 I seem to have no way of getting ahold of stock-included software and drivers; from functional sw, optional apps, to necessary drivers.

The asus download page for my model has a barebones listing of sw for download- which has left me with the above mentioned gaps. I swapped the hdd back in, to see if the preinstall, or recovery partition might be a useful source or even if I could fresh install to my ssd from the factory recovery image. No such luck.

I know asus has a tendency to lag behind in updating their dl pages outside tw- I've always used the ftp to get the latest sw for my asus motherboard- but I can't seem to do the same thing to get sw for this laptop.

I'd like to have the asus utilities- as gimmicky as some may view them- at least to try in my setup/config. Most of all- I'd like the touchpad 64-bit driver to alter the sensitivity and keep my palm from changing the cursur position while typing. I guess having expressgate would also be cool- as a subsystem for quick access to typical stuff w/o needing security or making my data available.

any other forum members w/ an asus notebook- u-series, bamboo line, or other have a similiar experience [maybe with some solutions]?

You haven't tried this? http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

The U43Jc is listed - looks like it has a full complement of W7 drivers.

thanks for replying, and offering some support. Unfortunately, the asus download site is missing a bunch of software that is included in the stock system image they install on the notebooks. I only know this because after doing a clean install on my ssd, I plopped the hdd that shipped with the notebook, and booted the OS image, to find a bunch of software not available from asus- both because it is missing from their support website, and also because no system-install disk is provided.
I was more wondering along the lines of whether others in a similiar situation had managed to find some way to extract the pre-loaded environment image and adapt it to their own clean install.

Weird. The only software that wasn't included online from my 4 year old Asus laptop is stuff like PowerDVD, Nero, and Norton IS.

On the original hard drive, was there an option to burn rescue discs? That could solve your utilities problem. I know on my mom's Acer laptop, you could burn a drivers/software disc in addition to a full factory image DVD.
