New type of spam?

It's obviously spam, as I don't think there's an Abdullah Truman, Husain Cloud, and Ferdy Phil that all decided to send me the same message. Anyways, here's an example: "my college dorm mate showed me your profile looks amazing talk to me on messenger thanks ttys *blank*@hotmail.com"

I'm just trying to understand what the point is. I'm thinking about adding 'her,' but I'm assuming upon sending a message I'll just get an autoreply for either penis enlargement or porn. Any ideas? Are they running out of ideas?

It sounds like a good way to confirm that there is a stupid person at the end of a particular email address. Everyone who confirms gets added to a list of "high value" targets (those who are likely to respond to spam). Spam to that email address then grows at an exponential rate until the inbox is over the limit.
