New TV/ New Video Card Question, Please help :)

hi guys!

i have a friend who is wanting to buy a new TV, specifically, this model.

she wants this tv to double as her computer monitor, i want to give her the best advice possible.

she was told by one of her friends to get a 9800 aiw. is this the only solution? because that is a very pricey solution.

thanks for any advice.

It has DVI input as well, so a number of DVI cards "may work" for connectivety. Leadtek makes a VIVO card with component output now also, however it is more pricey than the AIW currently IIRC. It is a crt based RPTV, so it is susceptable to screen burn-in and may not be a candidate to actually double as a PC monitor...but I use a CRT RPTV and on occasion use it for a monitor. Primarily I use it for watching video's and I do a little gaming as well.

AVS forums is good place for info. Type the model into the search engine and I'm sure you'll have plenty of info on that specific model used as a display fo a HTPC.

thanks, great reply.

what should i look at as far as resolutions, and/or any compatibility issues with the tv and card.

so, will any video card with dvi be ok? or does it have to have some sort of component adapter?
