New TV, any ideas???

Hi all -

I'm looking to buy a new TV

I love the widescreen tvs but they are expensive! I have been eyeing the 40" Toshiba widescreen for $1799. The sony wega series looks really good too, not widescreen but look like great TVs.

For a budget of under $2000 what would you buy and why? HD is not a must, mostly used for pro-scan dvds and also for TV off my DirecTV dish.
