New Turtle Beach Santa Cruz drivers available for Windows XP

This may be old news, but they're posted up as being July 2nd, so it can't be TOO old.

SC drivers

I find it interesting that Voyetra has drivers available for an OS that isn't even officially out yet while Creative Labs can't even get their drivers to work properly with an OS that has been out for 2 years.

I also should note that these XP drivers actually work in WinME and Win2K as well. Since they're all WDM, no doubt.

And some people have claimed it boosts performance in certain games under Win2K. YMMV.

Hmm, I could have SWORN I didn't see anything in a search before I posted. My bad

Also, what makes a driver set different for XP than with 2000? I'm just curious since the windows 2000 ones were royally messed when I used them in XP. I thought they'd be the same, guess not though.

With these drivers, does the sound card work with more than 256MB of memory? I have a Game Theater XP with this problem and it annoys me. If the Santa Cruz no longer has this problem, or if it never had this problem, I'll most likely switch to it. Hercules isn't releasing a driver until XP is released.

Well pulse8, I've had 512MB RAM on my system for the past 7 months or so, and got the TB SC about a month ago. It works fine in both Win2K and Win98SE. Of course I have some issues with certain applications but they are driver or OS issues, and have nothing to do with RAM.

pulse: over 256MB of ram problem? That is strange.. why would more memory cause a problem? I don't have a HercXP so I couldn't say I've researched the issue.

I've 384 with my SC and no problems here either.

So have anyone tried running these XP drivers under W2k? Might go out and buy this card if it fixes some problems that I have been reading in this forum.

Good to hear the SC doesn't have the problem. As for why it happens? I have no clue and no one else seems to really know. It's a VERY odd problem and Hercules hasn't released any info on it or any drivers to fix it. They haven't had the best driver support to begin with, so I've ordered an SC to remedy the problem. I like for my hardware companies to give me the decision on whether or not I want to run beta drivers.
