New TT Breaking there Bad rep????

hey guys i just bought a TT Pure Power TWV 500W...... and its great. Im Runing an SLI 6600gt Oced to 550/1.2 a 3000+ @2.5 2gb pc3200 Geil and Gskill mix (for BF2) 3x HDD 2x80gb and 120GB on dvd burner. an ATI 7000PCI and a Sound blaster 2zs with a DFI nf4 sli mobo. and the rails hold true at 12.20-18 never below at full load or idle. it comes with this 2 fan controler thing that also has an screen on the showing now many watts your useing..... some time in the new few day im going to have a friend over that have an 6800ultra and see if the PSU and power that gpu and my comp at full load. i dont see y it wouldnt............

I've used a couple of their $36 420Watters and was surprised, the workmanship was actually much better than I expected. I'm not ready to use one for my A64 but for the mom&pop XP systems I've built they have done very well. No complaints here.

It could be possible they're trying to improve their image. With the extra power draw of A64s and the new gpu's, people aren't going for the cheapo $50 psu anymore and are spending more time researching what's fit for their system. TT probably wants to compete with brands like OCZ, Fortron, and Seasonic.

ya i figured that if this PSU was going to blow up like there rep was id get an OCZ 520 power stream or a hiper 580wat TYpe-r......... but this PSU is awsome cuz it modular. love the wire management

Thermaltake PSU's have been of reasonable quality for a long time now.

For their price, they make awesome PSU's for most PC's except the ultra-high powered ones. Definately an acceptable PSU.

They have done rather well of late with the excellent Big Water. They are seemingly releasing rather worthy products now. Not perhaps as good as Thermalright or Zalman but they do provide a good package for anyone who does DIY with PC's but isnt ready for a leap of faith towards a more custom HSF combo or WC kit.

The PurePower TWV 500W was relatively quiet while operating under a light to moderate load (<150 watts) with the fan in auto-temp control mode. Even so, it was noticeable. When operating under a higher load (263 watts), the fan increased in speed to the point where it was very noisy. Even with all that airflow and noise, temperatures were higher than what I usually see for a power supply in this range. :thumbsdown:

ya those were just about the same as the others and i run the fan contraller and i havent had a problem at all.

if you would like to nit-pick the OCZ 520 wat Poer stream is in the sam place as the TT
and it only got a 7.5/10 not 9/10 like the tt

I've got a TT 480 and it runs a bit warm, but it is still quiet, and holds pretty steady on all rails. They are making okay PSUs now..

most people don't stress their psu's to the point where they will fail. the tests do show which one is best though. so yea sure u will have loads of anecdotal stories saying it works fine for me. but dollar for dollar wouldn't you want to buy the even better one?

THe only bling powersupply that I have heard a lot of complains about is the UltraX ones. Tt seems to make decent ones. Not the best, but definately not the bottom of the mill.

lol.... I havent seen an Modular PSU that has more then 34a on the 12vrail and more them 500watts have anyone else

I have a TT 420 running a A64, 6800, 3 HDD, 2 Opticals, Floppy with 11.94 on the 12V and no stability issues.

Been running fine for months.
