There are a lot of rumors flying around about TSA no longer allowing laptops, cell phones, iPods, etc. on current commercial flights. TSA has an easy to use web site that answers all your questions.

TSA

So, book mark this site, and when you are ready to travel by air, you can get the latest on what you can do about your laptop.

Until I read this, I was about to give up travel altogether. :)

Good info

Note: This only applies to flying in the US of course ;) Last I heard Britain isn't allowing laptops, but I have to look into that more.

I believe that is correct - same for cell phones, iPods etc. That is what caused the general rumor. So, for CONUS flights - TSA rules. Internationally, each country can make its own rules. UK is probably going to be the toughest.

Discovered a new wrinkle on the TSA site - should be useful for all you business travellers. If you register to create an "account," TSA will email you quickly anythime there is a change to an area of interest you might have. I signed up for the one on laptops and cell phones. That can be very useful.
