New track times

i got a 10.8 and a pair of 10.7's, all at 66mph in the 1/8th. My 60' time is 2.47, which sucks. The car doesn't have the low end to get it moving any faster, and first gear is too tall(it shifts at 80km/h).

I'm bolting my new tires on next friday, i'm going to play with the tire pressure to see if i can get a better 60', but i think a 2.4 is all the car has in it.

Also, i consistently trap 66mph, even my very first run a few weeks ago when i did a 10.9. What does this tell me? I know this motor has lots of top end but no bottom end(4.6L SOHC in a 93 crown vic) I took the tenth off by emptying my trunk(tool kit, full sized spare, fluids etc.)

any comments/observations?

cool..do you have any 1/4mi times?

For comparision, in the auto Maxima on a humid day, I ran 10.4 in the 1/8th @ 69mph and had a '60 of 2.433.

10.1 at 70.14mph

60' 2.344

no 1/4 mile times... but my 1/8th are good for ~16.7, although i'm going to be optomistic and say 16.6 because it pulls well in second gear.

not bad for a 10 year old, 147000km 3800lb brick. 🙂

Your from Canada, are in Ontario?? If so, which track did you goto?

isekii: you don't count cause your car can actually launch without wheel hop!! 😀

I went to the Ottodrome here in Ottawa, which is about 10 minutes away from me. Only an 1/8th mile this year though.

Anyone wanna chip in for a smaller TC and a shift kit for me? pretty please? 😀

I read this and thought you were running initially, until I saw the Crown Vic part.
I was like...:Q:Q:Q:Q:Q:Q

I am thinking of trying out my 1987 Crown Vic at the track. I figure I can break into the 15's with it. It has loads of bottom end and mid-range power, but the top end is a little weak (160 HP 5.0 V8).

my 2000 auto chevy prizm (really a corolla) does 11.2@64.4

I know this guy with same car as me, but built up, does it in 9.9@77. He has a high stall TC, p&p, intake/exhaust and a 55 shot.

i doubt 15's stock. 17's yes. At least you have a small block ford with a HUGE aftermarket(cheap heads, cams etc.) instead of my expensive mod motor :|

Last month I got my Oldsmobile down to a 12.78@106.7 in the 1/4. If I can get a better 60 foot I should be able to get a 12.4 or better out of it.

I thought you were going to have 100m sprint times!

I was going to say 10.8s was DAM fast for a non World Class Sprinter! Almost breaking in to the worlds ELITE runners with a time like that. They'd be about 6m in front of you though. Hell 12m in front of you and your still doing pretty good.

Then I read on and it is car times! whoops.

We'll see how it does, considering I can beat 16 sec cars in a drag race. This engine isn't completely stock. I will update when I manage to take it to the track.
