no, the price isn't that crazy when you consider that there are plenty of far slower sport sedans and coupes in the 50-100k price range. but those cars often still have a lot of power in addition to being far more sophisticated. the viper is almost like a kit car- the drivetrain is the big expense, everything around it is relatively simple.

Simple is a good thing.

So sorry the head rests that nobody can see don't have 18 way swivel folding dancing rotating beeping flashing LCDs with blue ray players and a GPS... :\

The Viper is a car for car people, not a "look at all my gizmos that your car doesn't have" type of car for those type of people.

Waiting for someone to bitch about the "solid axle" in the "outdated" Viper... come on what are you guys waiting for?

I thought the Viper was rocking a Quaife

That's the diff, has nothing to do with the suspension and axle layout.

Viper is four wheel independant SLA. I was just waiting for someone to come in ranting off about push rods and ox cart axles... because after all it's a US supercar, a Chrysler no less, so obviously it's old tech and outdated 🙄

Lets see how 'crappy' and old tech it is when an ACR destroys your Mercedes, BMW, or Porsche on the track, straights and 'twisties' both.

vipers are overpriced (new), archaically designed, and outright dangerous.

...they're also pretty fucking awesome and fast as hell if you can drive it right. and i've heard it's a buyer's market on used ones.

nice purchase.
Someone gets their car facts from Top Gear.

boohoo. it's fact. 500-600+hp with that suspension and drivetrain configuration with no electronic aids is a deathtrap for most. for those that can handle it flat-out, it can be a fucking track monster.

All those "electronic aids" just kill your power when you do something stupid like slam the accelerator mid turn.

You can do the same thing by realizing that the accelerator pedal has more than just on and off positions... :awe:

Hey my car has pushrods but GM renamed them to "cam in block" technology LOL but it's all good for me, my 3.5 only puts out 200/228 but is very good on fuel and the 228 ft/lbs is at the low end of the curve so it feels more ballsy then it really is. It's replacement V6 (in the new Malibu) is more a modern OHC design that outputs around 255HP and is of course faster but at the penalty of MPG, the way gas prices are going I'm happy with what I've got..

The Viper doesn't have a solid axle. It has wishbones, the simplest and best independent suspension design.

Edit: I guess technically swingarms would be the simplest independent suspension.

I'll have to take more pics the next time we take it out, but here are a couple from when my dad and I went to check it out/buy it.

The car isn't as crazy as you might think. It is exceptionally easy to drive if you are a car person. I could easily see myself using it as a DD if I could. Power is very smooth and easily deliverable unless you act like a retard. I'm still surprised at how non-psychotic it is to drive. The throttle travel is so long that you REALLY have to mean it to go fast.

I could attach a pic of the interior, but then again what interior? Cheap simple A/C knobs and radio controls with some gauges. It is exactly the type of car I love: simple, crazy fast, easy to learn and difficult to master.

The way it screams at you when you get on it is something else too. It does have a Corsa exhaust on it though. When you hit the gas(smoothly, or you'll die) I can feel the car taunting me with it's sound and power, "Is that all you've got?? Cause I can keep going, I dare you to up-shift and keep going, just see what happens." My balls are not steely enough.

It's a purist car for the most part(it does have ABS 😉 ) so personally I feel really connected to it and the road when I drive.
