No, but that reminds me of MSNBC running a special about the largest aircraft the US military ever operated, a "blimp" that met a watery grave :|

They're called DIRIGIBLES. Akron, Macon, Shenendoah and Los Angles... if I remember their names correctly....

I thought Dirigibles were framed airships, while blimps were just an envelope filled with gas...?

The one they showed on the sea bed was definitley the Akron and MSNBC called it a blimp. What you are talking about is definitley a blimp though. Don't mind me 🙂

I ordered one of these, supposed to be here tomorrow per the FedEx tracking info they gave me.

Anybody tried one? These things are 4ft long!

er... from their website:

Requires: Helium & four AA Batteries NOT inluded.

1. they can't spell
2. i'm not buying a helium tank in addition...

You don't need to buy helium... Just take the thing to Party City or somewhere that does balloons. They quoted me $2 to fill my blimp. I checked before buying.

They have a couple here at the local hockey games. They fly around during intermissions and drop prizes into the crowd

I had one of those about 10 years ago. What they don't tell you is you need to supply your own helium, which will set you back about $20 for a party tank. They last a few days.

What, exactly, only lasts a few days? The envelope is just a mylar balloon. I've refilled mylar balloons dozens of times (my daughter's favorite ones).

Is there something else?

The helium in the balloon lasts a few days. It also tends to be hard to store.

Gotcha Fritzo.

Well, storage isn't anything like an issue in this office. I've got more room than I know what to do with. I could play football here.

And refilling the helium isn't bad, so all good for me!
