I would strongly reccomend buying a 50/1.8 for low light situations... its a nice focal length, decent glass, and cheap. Also, if it seems somewhat small, apparently the battery grip helps a lot with how it feels.

i saw the suggestion for the 1.8 50mm that someone posted earlier, looks like my next purchase. :)
