Hard to say from just those screenshots if it's an improvement or not. Their real problem is the bloat and lag. I hear far too many Samsung owners complain about stuttering that shouldn't exist on modern high end Android phones. And the clutter, my god. I was helping a friend with their Note 2, the settings menu is a freaking mess.

Huh? You can see the new TouchWiz UI on the Hands On videos for the upcoming Tab 8.4Pro and Note 12.2Pro.

I wouldn't have a problem with touchwiz if it wasn't so bloated. But even the note 10 2014 stutters and there's no reason it should. I do like the new look though

My problem with Touchwiz is performance. It's the worst skin available. They should really talk to LG about making a UI fly. (I know.. never happens..haha)

So you're saying Samsung is copying the sheer utter craptasticness of iOS7?

At least with Android you mitigate most of the awfulness with your UI launcher like what I did on my Note 3.

The absolute worst part of Touchwiz is what possessed Samsung to put only 4 columns of icons on a device equipped with a 5 and larger inch screen. What a massive waste of screen estate.

Oh come on Samsung. I agree TouchWiz as it currently is looks terrible, but what's with the pastel colors? Are we trying to mimic iOS7 also? Is this another one of Samsung's desperate "me toos?"

The hell is wrong with you? Samsung can't even change their color palette without a claim that they're copying apple? This is the most absurd claim an op has had in quite some time. Just... Wow

This really.

I'm going to install Nova Prime whether it's a Samsung, Moto, Nexus or whatever phone so the failings of the stock launcher are fairly irrelevant.

IMO the new leaked TouchWiz UI looks like it has multiple "windows" in the 2nd frame:

The color schemes look like the Nexus 5.

I have no idea how you get that impression from the pics in the link. Those are rather traditional Touchwiz interfaces. The new UI (that I linked from GSM Arena and Pocketnow) looks polar opposite of iOS7 - unless you think Apple holds patents on colors.

Besides which, we know that iOS7 is mother of all things copied.

Edit: Looking again, Samsung basically minimized table paddings between widgets to near nothing and got rid of the dock, giving an illusion of billboards/full-screen magazine pages. I have to say it looks better than previous default screens but as others have commented I am more interested in performance. At least the overbearing drop-down menus look to be simplified on tablets. I kind of like the Tab 8.4's look. (2560x1600, yay)

Edit 2: Hmm.. am I seeing an earpiece on the Tab 8.4?

LOL how did OP conclude that to be a copy of iOS7? I seriously doubt Samsung wants dizzy users...

It seems like it. Blatant copy of Metro, though.

http://pocketnow.com/2014/01/07/samsung-galaxy-tabpro-video

In a more confusing manner from what I seen of the 12 inch model. Off the bat, I am not sure what is the centralized hub (Start Screen) gathering. Also of note, the person in the video went to a desktop like space and says you can go back to Android if you want....

All on top of, lack of ties with any professional applications that are off the bat to use with it (being a completely different hardware and software load out).

It also seems to be a bunch of widgets on one screen. There is a "taskbar" like pinning from the left, a "Alt tab"/"Modern task switcher/taskbar equivalent" from the left button. They have adopted a lot of the Modern/Metro mechanics of utilizing off screen bezel swipe in.

Looks more Android 4.4 inspired than iOS 7. The multiple window feature for tablets looks neat -- very heavily Windows 8 live tile inspired in terms of layout. However, live tiles on w8 have been a huge disappointment since many if the tiles aren't very live at all. Looks like it could be good as essentially running multiple sandboxed android apps in their own window/tile.

It looks better than current Touchwiz, IMO. But I really hope Samsung does something about bloats including those of carriers in its products. After all, all those widgets and icons can be easily customized by users. For now, I'd say Samsung is heading in the right direction. But it has A LOT more to go.

P.S. And I hope the tab 8.4 will retain telephony as an option when it lands on the U.S., but I won't hold my breadth.

*cough* HTC Sense.

Though, I'll grant its not available on a modern tablet. ;)

HTC Sense 5 is way better than TouchWiz in terms of overall usability.

Does Samsung employ colorblind/blind designers exclusively?
