my regime:

I warm up for about 12 minutes:

-6min warming up where I usually try to get at least 1500m in before the 6minute mark. On average I ALMOST get 1600m...but not yet:(
6 warming up at 3/4 to full, watching my pace and trying to get see how fast I can get 1500m in. I remember the times, but don't really count it towards my progress.

Once I am warmed up, for 6 minutes thereafter, I try to go 3/4 to full and remember my times.

On that last run my average time for every 500m, is about 1min48sec-1min53sec.

I wanted to see what a realistic goal should be for someone who is about 5'11 and in relatively good shape( not me;)).

During this final run, my split time starts at about 2:03, about half way through I keep it at 1:50ish, and by the end, I am in the 1:30 area...I am simply not in good enough shape to keep it in the 40s the entire time like I use to back in the day:(

anyone? I have nothing to gauge my progress except myself and wanted to see if anyone knew of some good resources or if they are good resources themselves:).

I'm going to the gym right now so I'll post my time in a bit. CSI was on last time in the gym and I stopped to watch a few time though...I gotta concentrate.:(

It would help to have some more information:

Are you an outdoor rower as well??? (Really that's just because I'm curious -- I've always felt that the ergometer is really painful and definitely not the most fun or low impact way of doing your cardio).

What kind of ergometer are you using? Concept 2/3?

Are you training for a competition or just for fitness?

What are your stroke per minute rates? Your average times seem to be all over the place -- in general, the steadier your spm the better. :)

hi:D

1) I used to be an outdoor rower:D nw I am relegated to using the one at the gym.

2) Using a concept 2

3) training just for fitness

I just got back and my numbers were:

1st 6min:

1533m:(

average spm at first was about 27...at the end I was cranking at 30. I keep my spm steady for at least a few minutes before speeding up.

2nd 1500m.

time: 6:04:4 :(

average spm was about 27-28 and an average split of 2:00:eek: until I hit 900m. Then I went down to about 1:50 but still at 27 spm. Then, finally for about the last 300m I was at 30spm and at about 30spm.

3rd 500m

Kept it at 1:50ish for the first 300, and average 1:45ish for the next 200, and 1:35ish for the last 100m.

finished the 500m in 1:44 :D
