They can be had brand new shipped for $83.
Assuming it costs 5 to ship yours, that makes the total $50.
So, 60 percent charge ($50/$83) for a used card is not so far off.

You missed my point.
Anyone can buy one brand new delivered for $83.
To induce a person willing to buy a card new for $83, to accept a used one, you will have to offer a substantial discount, like 40 percent off.

If it is $83 new, how is $50 for a used one a low ball?

some people think they should get 60% of what they paid for it, not 60% of the current price

or some people think they should get 90% of the current price for used stuff

or maybe some people just don't follow prices on a daily basis and don't know the speed at which this stuff depreciates

or maybe chocolate cake is better than pumpkin pie

i dunno

You can't lowball someone in the forum, but it's not against the rule if you do it thru PM or email.

It's amazing how fast a "mainstream" video card can deappreciate so quickly in just about a year's time.:Q

It's Spanky007's. That should make it worth $100.00

So you say you turned the offer down.

They think that, you are right, but they are wrong.
I think that was your point.
Imagine they paid $200 for the card, who would pay $120 for a used card when $83 gets a new one?

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by telling you I wouldn't give you a nickel for that card. Now if you wanted to pay me , we could probably work something out. But no low-balling, please.

I'll give you $48.50 for it. ;)

OK, so you might turn me down too, just like you might turn down an ugly chick if she asked you to dance. I really don't see the big deal.

Someone offered me a mere $100 for an unopened full retail edition of Windows XP Professional while I was contemplating what to do with it. I didn't sell it (I ended up installing it a couple months later) but I wasn't offended in the least.

OTOH, I offered a dude $250 for his old car that booked for $1200, and my lowball offer was accepted. Try seeing it from the other side before you get all bent up. A simple reply of "it's not for sale" would have been my reply.

hmm $45 is lowball for a USED $80 card? what do you expect for it $70?

i always hate it when people expect to get 80%+ for used computer equipment. I love FS/FT forums sometimes you can get good items at good prices. But it always shocks me when someone is selling a item for almost the same price as a new. i have even seen people asking the same price with shipping as it is new without shipping!

anyway you never know if some guy will accept a lowball offer. i am never offended by it i just say NO try XX price. If it really offends you maybe you should stop selling stuff.
