If any one recalls, I posted some weeks ago asking if anyone knew where I could get a <be quiet! Dark Power Pro (modular) 650W power supply - couldn't find a seller in the states.

I persevered (sp?) and finally found an English speaking web seller in Germany that had online ordering in english and would ship unhesitatingly to Virginia USA.

They charged 113.36 euros plus 24.30 euros shipping and I had my power supply in little over a week thanks to the German Post, DHL, and my local US Post Office. It ended up costing me $212.92 which I think is reasonable considering the price top of the line 650W power supplies go for plus international shipping.

The company is called hiller+hinken and they do business as pc]silent.de. Googling that should get you their web page. Their return policies are outstanding - but I will have and am not now having any problems with the power supply. Except for one problem - I couldn't find a plug in my house that the power cord would fit:shocked:

Here's a link to the supply.

I don't know anything about that unit, but you could have gotten a modular Corsair HX620 for 116.51 and I know it's a high quality unit that would have easily powered your rig.

Now, you're probably going to cut the plug and void the warranty!

I hope it never needs service!

Good Luck!

Hey guys - I pulled your leg!!! I knew the power supply came with a european 240 volt plug when I ordered it. I just put the cord that came with the unit in my museum exhibits and plugged the power supply up with the old standby power cords of which I have half a dozen.

I know there are a few economically mitigating factors in the cost of the unit and even with its rave reviews and reputation in Europe it is an unknown here in CONUS. You can buy its non-modular little brother stateside by the be quiet name and under the b gears brand. The non-modular models carry the moniker "Straight Power", the modular are called "Dark Power Pro" and come in wattages up to 1K.

But like I said fellas - haven't you ever just wanted something? And for whatever reason just had to have it and to heck with the torpedoes? This was one of those.

As the call it in Germany - and stated in English on the paperwork that came with the shipment - I have the right of revocation. I can revoke the sales agreement for no reason at all within 14 days of receiving the unit (revoke in writing via e-mail) and get a refund. After that I have 24 months by German Law in which I can return the unit for replacement if it is faulty or fails due to some fault of the units original build. Shipping might cost a little but so what. The manufacturer, promises that within Germany should your power supply fail they will come to your house with a new unit within 24 hours!

And anyway - I really wanted it.

Old Hippie - - - Performance PC called on the phone to tell me the new case is shipped, they checked and the adapter for the blue ring light is in the box, and it will be on my doorstep Monday. Only small operations can do that kind of customer srvice.
