new to win2k, need help with SP2 installation

I'm new to win2k and having a really hard time installing SP2.
Everytime after I install SP2 and restart, I get the BSOD with stop error 7b, Inaccessible_boot_device.
I have to spend 30 minutes to 'rescue' the installation and it would start fine again. The system would work fine after that
but I'm not sure if it 'overwrote' the SP2 installation.
How can you tell if you already have SP2 installed?
I'm really lost right now, any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks a lot for reading this.

Goto the following to see if you have SP2 installed all ready. It will say in the general 'tab' just under where is say what OS you are running. It should read 'Service Pack2' if it don't say anything then you don't have SP2 installed. I would try downloading the SP2 again because maybe the file got corrupted some how. I'm running Win2k Pro w/ all the patches there is and my OS is running very stable.
