Hello,
I just built a new system (e8400, 8800gt, 2g ram, abit ip35-3, seagate 7200.11 500g)..haven't begun OCing or even putting the ram at rated timings...
I have a few questions in regard to the 64-bit OS...
1) Things like spyware terminator and spyware doctor do not support live scanning of the 64-bit OS. Does anyone know of a Vista 64-bit compatible software (outside of windows defender) that protectects like those other programs?
2) Coretemp does not work with this OS and I am having a hard time figuring out if Speedfan (latest version) works with this. Anyone know if speedfan does work or a good alternative program that works with the 64-bit Vista? This will be very important when I start overclocking.
3) I am not familiar with all the services that are being run, any suggestion on places to go where they suggest a nice minimalist configuration...
my goals for the pc are, MatLab crunching (sometimes on extremely large data sets), gaming, some mp3 files, watching some movies (not a core component of the system).
Any help is appreciated. If I missed anything important, please feel free to advice.
Thank you,
Rich
