New to this Battery thing. Help please.

My laptop is about 4 weeks old and I just started noticing a weird (or normal?) battery problem. When I fully charge the battery and then leave the laptop power off for a day or so, the battery life drops about 8 - 10%. Is this normal? It's driving me nuts thinking I have a faulty battery. I called Toshiba technical support and the lady was speaking so low n fast that I just said thank you and left.

If I take out the battery and store it somewhere, will that keep it from discharging? Thanks.

That's normal for a Toshiba.

my T40 was losing one or two percent a night. i ran the battery down to 6% and since i recharged it has been staying at 100%.

Is this when it's plugged in or unplugged? If it's unplugged then it's normal for it to drop. I worked with a new Toshiba about a year ago and it dropped quite a bit every day it was unplugged. It dropped to like 60% in a few days. If it's plugged in and dropping that could be a problem. If it drops to like 90-95% then recharges then it's fine (that's what my T40 does) but if it drops much below 90% without automatically recharging there could be a problem.

Thanks. I was almost about to take the battery to a service center and ask them to replace it. Almost wasted gas. Thanks a lot!
