Hey guys, I've been a long time anandtechian but never really knew these fourms existed untill recently. Hopefully you will forgive my ignorance as I havent had a chance to pour through the last few days of postings to try to answer my own questions but I'm at work and its a monday so time isnt being to friendly to me as far as time so I just wanted to post my situation and hope for some feedback.
Ok enough crap, I just recently made some system upgrades and this is my situation.
Avg room temp, 75-85 degrees
Stock Tornado case w/out Side case fans 300WattPicture
Asus A7A266
1.33mhz 266fsb t-bird, Non-oc (with a cheap $9 cpu fan <---need work on this)
256 Crucial cas2 pc133
Asus geforce2 GTS pure
Sblive Platnium w/live drive installed
30GB ata100 Maxtor Diamondmax plus
40GB ata66 Maxtor Diamondmax plus
Sony 8x4x32
Asus 50x
PCI modem/Nic
My problem is that this new setup is a heat monster, that 1.33 chip is HOT, I cant even put the sides of my case back on without locking in about 10 minutes. I've been doing a little research and I'm begining to realize I really dont know a whole lot about cooling, I'm still in the "wow that looks big it must cool good" phase and really need to play some catch up. I am very curious to know how you would go about cooling this rig, I'd like to start with a good cpu heatsink. I'm thinking that I need to get a couple case fans and mount them blowing air onto the cpu/video card from the side, but as I said I dont really know what is most effective,
keeping costs reasonable what would get the most bang for my buck for cooling this rig?
thanks in advanced!
