I just installed seti@home and I'm currently working on my first data unit. This is really neat. How long on average should it take to complete one data unit? (running all the time).

That completely depends on the system you are using.
Have you joined Team Anandtech yet?
I have a few systems running seti, for example my P3 933 does a work unit in just a little less than 7 hours while my celeron 300a running @ 450 gets it done in about 13 hours.

Welcome to SETI@home! 🙂 Are you joining the AnandTech SETI@home group? You'd be very welcome to be on the team. 🙂

Thanks all! I just joined Team AnandTech. Can I use multiple PC's with the same account to speed up my units?

I have a an AMD T-Bird 1 Ghz CPU and 256 MB memory and I'm at 36% for 9 hours for my first unit. This seems real slow to me for the fast system I have. I let it run overnight and I thought for sure it would've at least finished one unit. Is there any way to make it go faster? I have it set to run all the time. Thanks! 🙂

barlav: Yes, you can use the same account on multiple machines in order to produce more Work Units. That's excactly what most of us are doing. We like to call it "assimilation" or "asslamination". 🙂

Your times are very slow for that rig you've got. Are you running the GUI version or the CL version? If you're running the GUI version with the screen saver enabled (displaying the graphics) you are going to easily double your production time. It takes a lot of CPU power to display the graphics while it works. Your best bet is to either turn off your screen saver or just set it to "blank screen".

Welcome to the team!
