New to SATA

I just got my new SATA hdd, read through motherboard manuals but cannot find the answer to this question...

If I am just booting my OS off a single SATA hdd, should I plug my DVD drive and CDRW drive (as master & slave) into IDE1 now or IDE2 as they used to be using my old IDE hdd?
 
Actually trying to decide which new motherboard to get with my new cpu...and my hsf doesnt leave much room for IDE2 (MSI Neo2 Plat & Zalman7000) so it would be nice to plug those devices into IDE1 instead....I think IDE2 will leave the cable resting on my hsf.
