when you have the little cow runing in you taskbar. The software will just go get work on its own? And by default after installation does it only do something when the computer is idle or do you have to set that up. My qeustion for example if i was to run a 3d marks score it should be the same even when rc5 is running correct. Because system isn't idle its not takeing any of my resources. Or will it slow me down??????

Ir should be nearly the same. Maybe a couple points off.

Did you set up your e-mail in the client? And if you want to do only RC5 you can make some sepcial setting in the INI file. Otherwise your going to be doing ogr has well.

here is what my ini file looks like

[parameters]
id=tncrc5@home.com

[networking]
keyserver=proxy.teamanandtech.com
encoding=
disabled=no
nettimeout=14
nofallback=true
autofindkeyserver=no

[misc]
run-work-limit=0
project-priority=RC5,OGR,DES,CSC

[rc5]
[rc5]
fetch-workunit-threshold=32
preferred-blocksize=33
randomprefix=1

[buffers]
allow-update-from-altbuffer=yes
frequent-threshold-checks=4

[triggers]
restart-on-config-file-change=yes

[ogr]
fetch-workunit-threshold=5

This will do mainly rc5 unless the contest ends then it will do ogr next. just change the e-mail address to your own, and after the nightly stats run you can join Teamanandtech.

Here is the teams website.

If the cow is there, it is working on something! 🙂
You don't have to alter anything to get to use the idle cycles, by its nature that's what it does as it's priority is set to "0" as default.

Post your ini file so that if there is anything out of place we can help you get it right.

The client doesn't slow down my framerate in Q3 😀

Adul, you may want to change to the following :

[rc5]
fetch-workunit-threshold=32 ; or any value multiple of 32
preferred-blocksize=33

to avoid block fragmentation, and reduce memory load on the proxies.

Setting ogr threshold to a low value is desirable since it defaults to 24, which takes a hell of time on the average computer.

Oh, and Welcome to the TeAm, tjll11a ! Your help is appreciated.
