New to me 2006 STI

Well, the fact I bought it from an older couple and pulled it straight out of their garage tells me that...they were an older couple who kept it in the garage. theres still an indent on the sun visor where the garage door was kept. also, I am pretty sure the boost gauge comes stock in an STI....at least all the other ones I looked at had them. The Lamco boost gauge in there has come standard on just about every sti i've seen.

More than likely their 'kids' car that is living out of town.

Not really a selection of vehicle for anyone in the 'older demographic'.

Really nice car! My best friend had a Silver '05 and got to drive it when we traded cars for a week. That thing looks as close to mint as reasonable and should be a blast to drive.

Also, I've seen older women driving everything from a Neon SRT to a CTS-V and a C6 Z06. It does seem out of place, but I figure they go in wanting a little bigger engine and somehow get talked into these cars. I know my 67 year old dad would be cruising in around in something marketed to a younger crowd if his knees weren't so bad.

Cadillacs and Corvettes have historically been majorly skewed to the 40 and over crowd.

Anyway...not sure with what is confusing. The Corvette and Cadillac's demographic is usually the 40 year old and 50+ year old male respectively.

The WRX STi is almost entirely the 30ish and younger market.

Saying an 'older couple' owned it is ambiguous at best. Perhaps the OP is 16 and this couple 26 years old and starting a family...to me it sounds like a pair of 60 year olds selling off a car they got stuck with.

What's the VIN OP? I have some carfaxes left.

I already ran the carfax, but thanks for trying. Just because a car is marketed towards a group doesn't mean that group is the only group allowed to buy it. I am 24, and the old people whose garage I backed it out of were at least in their 50s or 60s and have grand children who are just starting at the college I just graduated from. So yeah, pretty safe to say it was owned by an older couple.

I didn't say old lady, I said older couple. I am not giving you my vin, I don't need you to verify my story. All it will show is that its registered to one owner, in Colorado, who bought it from Mike Shaw Subaru.

Get a catted midpipe?

In cali, deviating from stock needs a CARB sticking for exhaust mods. You may get lucky with just a catted midpipe, but sometimes they have 'pictures' of stock setups available.

I couldn't handle living in such a lawsuit / legal tangled state. It's nice to visit though.

As someone thats lived in both SoCal and Florida, the latter can't hold a candle to the former.

I haven't been to Miami/Lauderdale yet though. The Tampa/Orlando/Sarasota areas are pretty meh overall.

Palm beach is one of the most in demand areas to live, ft lauderdale and Miami as well.

If this were my car, I would already be pricing out turbo upgrades, and would have the parts for an e85 conversion enroute.

FWIW in the group of people I know with STI's, about half of them are older people with the most powerful ones belonging to people 50+. Some of the reasoning I heard was the only restriction on a car from their company allowance was that it had to have 4 doors.

I have a 2004 with Vf34 turbo, catless greddy full exhaust with STI muffler, Cobb stage 1.

Huh, VF34 with a Stage 1 tune? That makes zero sense.

Anyway, throw a stock downpipe on it and it will most likely pass. They can still get you on visual, but I highly doubt any smog guy that will know a VF34 from a TD04.

These cars are so easy to mod its almost a travesty NOT to mod them. The parts for a Cobb stage 2 are well under a grand and the difference in power is worth every penny.

the first STI/EVO they brought to the states are the rawest most liveable.

Now they are both a tad on the cush side but the cars have gotten to accommodate wider wheels and other tech upgrades.
Still I couldn't turn it down, it's just I can't see myself buying the new gens when other sports cars have become bargains now.

bah,,, I have two cars in the mid 500's and both are beyond drivable -> that is the magic of turbos. Now up the boost/bigger turbo and lets make some power!

What I meant was, you stated having a VF34, catless exhaust, with a Cobb Stage 1 (tune?)

This combo makes no sense
