New To Linux (Redhat) And Some Basic Questions...

How do I install drivers? Like I said, very, very new to Linux, and any help would be appreciated...

Also, I've looked for Linux drivers for the following but couldn't find any (they didn't work with Redhat immediately, but I'm hoping the drivers could help..)

Microsoft USB IntelliMouse Web (Worked fine during the installation, but after that, stopped working)
RCA USB Cable Modem
NVIDIA Geforce 4 MX 440

How do I install drivers?

Depends on the driver. Some things are choices in kernel compilation or kernel module loading. Some involve XFree86 configuration. Some just need the right text config file.

I'm not familiar with the "Web" model, but if you search RH's site, or others, for USB intellimouse, that should be close enough. Usually, mouse support is a matter of getting the right lines in the X configuration file. There's a file in the X documentation called mouse that should be helpful here.

RCA USB Cable Modem

This looks like a good place to start. But honestly, this is the kind of hardware that is often unsupported in Linux. Be optimistic, but resilient.

NVIDIA Geforce 4 MX 440

Linux driver here. Not sure it's the most recent one, just a quick search. You'll need to read the README carefully - installation procedures are not quite obvious.

Being new to Linux you'll probably cut the frustration level in half by installing a NIC in the machine and forgetting about the USB cable connection.

Is it the modem that would be a problem, or having the modem on USB?

its the usb part that could be problematic.... plus most unix people cant live without a nic anyway, so they dont have experience with usb cable modems, et al.... so they cant provide much help.
