Okay say you have to update the bios to get the full processing speed capacity. Is this acheivable without resorting to a floppy drive installation? I really hate floppies. Is it much of a hassle "updating the bios"? It sounds so technical, but is it really? And do I need a floppy to do this?

It depends on what motherboard you get. Generally it's not done to get the CPU to run at its designed speed, though, you do that yourself by changing a BIOS setting (when necessary).

If you want to know what method of BIOS updates a particular motherboard can use, then download its owner's manual. The manual will tell you what the options are. Have you picked out a motherboard yet?
