New to Boinc (LHC@Home)

I installed Boinc on all of my systems today and actually kind of like it. It seems you can run as many projects as you wish with only one client. How many DC team members here run more than one project using Boinc? I thought about doing S@H too as I'm already running LHC@Home. Is this wise or against recommendation. Just curious. Also is there any know issues with BOINC?

Thanks!

That's the main concept behind BOINC ... run many different DC Projects with only one "engine". Just allocate your CPU cycles in any fashion you desire.

😀

I run SETI, Predictor, LHC, Einstein, BURP and CPN at the same time on 3 pcs with Boinc.. each one don't get that much cpu, but it's kinda cool seeing boinc cycle through them all.. 😀

I only run LHC@Home, but I may expand to Einstein@Home later, and BOINC seems to handle multiple projects very well, with a very customizable interface.

I just joined up as well...seti, and then I found einstein.
I am having a problem the graphics for Einstein, it just sits there blank on the screensaver, and when you press the "Show graphics" button in the manager, it doesn't do anything. But it does the crunching.
everything works fine for SETI though. Anybody have any suggestions or help?
thanks

There's been some problems with Ati graphics cards not displaying screensaver, this should now have been fixed but AFAIK only seti@home have released new applications, so if this is your problem it will not go away before Einstein@home releases next application...

Anyway, displaying the screensaver will always take a little bit of cpu-resources away from crunching, so the recommended is to not run it. 😉
And of course, if you've got a crappy graphics-card, the screensavers will take half the cpu...

In BOINC it's recommended to run atleast 2 different projects, in case one of them is down or haven't any work to hand out. If you uses equal share or 99.99%/0.01% is your choise. 😎

...yup I have the ATI 9800pro AIW
Thanks Rattle, I can live without it...but those screen savers are cool.
I'm not too worried about maximum crunch, in fact I used Threadmaster that I found einstein@home's website to throttle the cpu usage so my computer quit overheating during the heat of the day.
here E.T., E.T., E.T. hahaha

thanks 🙂

"here E.T., E.T., E.T."

That's what we've been forgetting to do! lol
