New to Android -- Wake up the screen on speakerphone?

Got the HTC One today and have a question about the screen going to sleep during a call. Using speakerphone on the iphone, the screen would turn off after a few seconds, but when I wanted to wake it back up, I could just touch it with my finger. Not so on the HTC -- I have to press the power button to wake it back up.

How do I achieve the iphone behavior with my HTC?

i think you have a rom that will allow you to wake the screen when you slide your finger across the menu buttons. im pretty sure the digitizer is off when the screen is off, so there wouldnt be a way to wake it by touching it. ]

i also remember some roms will use the proximity sensor, and the gyro to know when the phone is face down on a table, and can go into speakerphone mode automatically.
