I just saw that the K8NS has the Nforce 4 chipset instead of the Via one the Asus board has. Therefore I pressume the Gigabyte is better, correct?
I'm sorry, but you need to read a bit more carefully. The K8NS Ultra does not have PCI-E, and the ASUS A8N-E most certainly does. Edit: and, the A8N-E has the NF4 Ultra chipset as well. Please straighten out your model numbers before confusing us further.

Sorry. I looked each up on Newegg (Monarch's show extra information isn't working for these boards for some reason) and accidentally looked at the K8N Ultra and the A8V-E. I'm not quite sure how I mixed both up. Obviously i would want the A8V-E though. Thanks.

Having built over 100 systems with MSI boards and no issues, my vote goes to them. You can't beat their Live Update driver update utility for speed either.

Asus, DFI, Abit, Chaintech, etc will all most likely serve you well tho. Go with whatever package has the price/features/extras that best match your needs.

If you find a board that is appealling, google it to make sure there aren't any particular issues with the hardware you're going to use with it.

Isn't it that DFI, MSI are using a fan to cool the chipset and the fan is making a lot of noise in some cases? I am looking for a good board as well. Any recommendation on a good board with passive cooling? Thanks
