New tires! *update: Dunlop FM901s own!

I finally got the new tires put on. Dunlop FM901 215/55-16.
Pics

Looks kind of odd, since the stock size is 205/55, but better than 215/45 would look.

Btw, I found out what the reversing noise was... well the tire guy did. The left rear brake caliper had a bolt missing. It was behind held on by one bolt, which was loose. I'll get that fixed when I get my alignment.

Nice tires! Have you noticed a difference in the way the car drives/handles? Is there more road noise now?

I'm telling you, you won't regret the extra width in the tires! Btw, how are these in the rain (or do you guys not have lots of rain in your area?) ?

I haven't noticed a difference in handling because I haven't pushed them yet. I'm waiting until I get the alignment and the brake caliper fixed. There is less road noise now though. Those tires are supposed to be pretty good in the rain.

doesn't look that odd... check out these tiresfalken azenis sports, these are the ones i got... my car STICKS now... :) but thems some nice looking tires... wider is almost always better in terms of tires and traction... :)

{i am too old i guess,if it was a 57 Chevy,etc i could tell ya, or a 85 Buick Grand National! :) }

It's a 1995 Nissan 240sx :). Only RWD car in its class at the time and since then... but it was underpowered (155hp from a 2.4L I4)...

I have to pimp my uber just-waxed pictures!

They do make a turbo kit for that car.

Yes, people turbocharge that engine. But usually they swap in the engine from the Japanese and Australian markets... the sr20det. 2.0L turbocharged engine. I think that one made 222hp or something from the factory, but it can go much higher.

uhm...your handling might have gotten worse...cuz of the extra 10mm width you sidewall could be softer.

I have 17inch rims with 9inch width running 255/40 tires. I can go all the way to 275 but my sidewall would be WAY to soft. im thinking of actually going with 245/40 next time

Well I just went out to test them. Nothing too serious, just a road with some 25mph curves that I take at 45. Where my old tires would squeel, the new ones don't make a sound.

Can anyone explain why my steering misalignment is less severe that it was before? I barely have to hold the wheel 1° to go straight, where before it would be up to 5°. Pressure?

Gregshin, I know the handling could actually have gotten worse. I took that risk, and it may be worse than 215/45, which is the next lower size those tires are made in (215/50 seems to be rare), but I doubt I would notice the difference. It's an extra 5mm sidewall though.. 5% difference. 118.25 vs 112.75mm height.

Took my car to the dealer to get alignment and the rear left brake replaced... On the way, turning onto a feeder road from a main road, basically a 90° left turn, I decided to "test" the traction of these Dunlops... I realized while turning that I was going too damn fast, 40mph or so... "Oh sh!t I'm going to die!"... Not even a squeel!

What do you mean by reversing noise? My truck makes an occasional rubbing noise as it backs up
