EDIT: Sorry... Yes 225 NOT 255

Saturn Vue, currently has Kumho 225/55R17 tires on. Lots of street noise with these tires. Will be used in all weather conditions. Lots of snow up here, but I don't plan on towing people out of ditches or anything.

I've never bothered with buying "snow tires". I always thought they were good for winter but worthless in summer, high gas cost? To date, I've always purchased all season type tires.

Anyway, recommendations? I'm more of a bang for buck guy. Going by a couple review sites for all weather radials of that size I see high reviews for:

Hankook Optimo
Goodyear Assurance Comfortred / Tripletred
Michelin Primacy

Opinions?

Thats a weird size and tirerack only had 2 tires. Also thats not the factory size is it?

I would go with a differant size and get the best all round tire, even in snow, the continental DWS.

245/50-17 = $165
255/45-17 = $161
235/55-17 = $153

The 235/55 would be the best in terms of size/height and price. Also closer to the factory size so would probably work better than the 255/55 you have now.

The ContiExtremeContact's are awesome All-Season's. I believe they're being phased out though, why I don't know... :( The CEC's won't last 80k though, they'll be done in about 50, and that last 10 they'll be getting down there.

Best bet is to find a set of cheap wheels if they're available for your ride and you have th space and $$$, and put winter tires on them. Then use your nice wheels for a set of 3 season tires. Best of both worlds...
