Features:
$999 price
2560 x 1440 resolution
16:9 IPS display
Thunderbolt (daisy-chain up to 6 displays)
FaceTime HD camera with Mic & Speakers
Gigabit Ethernet
(3) USB 2.0 ports
MagSafe charging port

Wow, Gigabit Ethernet! Looks like you can drop your laptop and just hookup the MagSafe & Thunderbolt ports and be ready to go! Not quite as nice as a dock, but better than the zillions of wires we've had to use in the past!

What's the use of the ethernet port? 😕 Does it let the display connect directly to the Internet?

edit looks like the Thunderbolt cable acts as a pass through for the Ethernet port? (as well as audio)

if you have the new MBA you can use thunderbolt to the cinema display and then ethernet. a lot of companies still have older wifi because the enterprise access points are expensive

yeah I didn't realize you could do this. pretty neat.

Thunderbolt = Webcam, Mic, Speakers, Gigabit Ethernet, (3) USB 2.0 ports

Then the attached MagSafe for power to the laptop. So you only have to hookup 2 cables (as opposed to a USB hub, Ethernet cable, and MagSafe). Apple's version of a docking station.

It also has a FW 800 port.

why did they use the same name as one of the biggest non apple smartphones ?

They didn't. They used their name for what intel had code-named LightPeak. A 10Gb/s full duplex copper connection that allows for daisy chaining and up to 10W of power output.

Yea kinda strange.. I think they came out right around the same time, but the phone might have been publicly announced first.

My confusion is, wtf is a thunderbolt? I know lightning bolts, and thunder 'claps'.. Never heard of a thunderbolt though.
