I have an opportunity to get a new motherboard/ram/cpu combination for almost not cost to me (and I can get whatever I want).
After sifting through people's recommendations and hardware reviews and articles, I'm about to puke. People are reccommending hardware that is over a year old like its still the king of the hill and many review articles are so dated that they contain merely leaked information (at the time) for hardware that has been on the market for months now.

I ask that someone provide me (and everyone else) with a list of solid, feature packed motherboards that don't date beyond last July or so (no 1st generation 875Ps for god's sake..).

As for what I specifically I want, I'm very open. I have both AMD systems and Intel systems around me at the moment and I'm comfortable with most motherboard manufacturers.

Simply put, what is the creme of the crop right NOW for motherboards, regardless of AMD or Intel?

And does anyone have a few websites that are updated frequently with hardware reviews? Even AnandTech sucks in my mind.

If you want the best of the best and cost is not a worry. Then get a Athlon FX system. A Athlon FX chip alone is $800 but is the fastest out there. The next one down to me is the Athlon 64 3200+. It goes for $400 range.

There are a couple of major chips out for those CPU's. nForce 250 and the Via chipset. They perform about the same so get a board that has the features you would use.
