Anyone have clowns in your area using parking sensors to get right up on someone's bumper at a red light?

Good luck pulling this one day on a manual on a hill.

Noticing it lately with some of the kids here in high end cars at 16.

Parking sensors don't work that close. It is just a constant tone/red blob on the screen at that point (depending on the car.) Gives you a good 6-8 inches to work with. On a hill, pull the handbrake 1-2 clicks before you start if someone is that close behind you....you won't hit them.

Pretty sure it's their fault if you roll back and hit them at a light. They shouldn't be that close to you in the first place.

Yep, just another distraction to keep drivers from paying full attention to the road.

I know this. Most drivers aren't going to even check their rearview prior to letting off their brake to begin with nor engage the clutch within the first 2 feet of rolling.

I am sure this is going to ebb. Just seems these trends gain popularity like:

1) signalling with the opposite blinker
2) pretending to be turning right at a stop sign in order to blow through it (I never got this one as you have to stop either way).
3) turning left from the middle lane to bypass the line.

I've heard of these "hills" that you speak of, but, haven't seen one in years.

Don't many modern cars hold the brakes on for you on a hill for a few seconds or until you hit the gas? Hill Start Assist. Even a moron won't roll back.

that's relatively new tech...most of the manuals on the road will not have it.

Anybody getting that close to me will have melted clear coat and rubber to clean off with a clay bar when they get home. I'm not joking either, just look at my plastic fuel tank cover that's a few inches from the exhaust.

But no, I've not noticed it at any higher rate than normal douche bags in any other car with HIDs and a spoiler that think they are hot shit. It's almost always followed by an attempted fly by.

I'm not sure how new it is (my 04 Subaru has it, and I think models far older did as well), but it's certainly not commonplace.

It's been around since the 30's actually...never really used as much until recently.

I don't know the exact figures but someone said recently only 1% of 1% of all cars today are sold as manuals.

You have 6 inches to roll back in my state. Anymore than that, it's your fault.
