just saw AaronP's topic about arcades.back in the 70's and 80's that was kids, teens and young adults did for fun, at least I did(I was 20 in 1980)but with new technology these things are going the way of the dinosaur... too bad they were a great way for a family or kids to get out, interact w/ people and just plain have fun. the video game just about killed the pinball games( although they are still out there, but just barely)PC's and consoles just about killed the arcades. the vcr and the dvd just about killed the drive ins(again they are still there but just barely, I have one thats still open 25 mi away) and the only reason walkins are still around is beacuse most people don't have a 100 ft screen and the sound system that the walkins do but I bet the new technology took a big bite out of them too. It just seems a shame. not only are we losing a part of our recent heritage(yes I believe this) but the new technology seems to be isolating us more and more(yes I know that the internet can be an exception to the rule, however even this technology keeps people seperated and anonymous, thereby perpetuating this isolation.)it just seems a real shame to me. any thoughts??
