New t RAID got a simple ?

I am going to setup a level 0 RAID using 2 WD1000JB drives and a Promise FastTrak 1000TX controller under Win2k & WinXP (dual boot). I have a 2nd HD now that I use for everything but the OS and programs, etc. and when I format and reinstall the OS or move everything to a new motherboard or otherwise completely change the system all the data on my "storage" drive is fine. Will that be the case with a RAID? does the controller handle everything and the OS just see one drive? Can I be safe using the RAID in the same way I used the 1 HD?
